Buying a 1952 Aston Martin DB2 Drophead Coupe

1952 Aston Martin DB2 Drophead CoupeProduced from 1950 to 1953, the Aston Martin DB2 was the first post-war production car for the British manufacturer. Several DB2 prototypes had been built in 1949 and were entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France, yet the first official debut to the public would be at the 1950 New York Motor Show. It would appear more civilized at the show, with proper bumpers and more complete and comfortable equipment. The 2.6L six-cylinder engine would offer 115hp in standard form, while a Vantage version (125hp) was offered at an additional cost. Its aluminum body, which was handcrafted at Feltham, offered a hinged front section hood, nose and fenders that tilted forward for access to the engine. The classic DB2 was available as a standard Fixed-Head Coupe and as a Drophead Coupe convertible. Many thought the Drophead Coupe versions were particularly stylish, yet very few would be manufactured. In total, little more than 400 examples of the DB2 were made, of which it is estimated that 97 were in the Drophead Coupe body style.
