Buying a 1956 Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk II

1956 Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk IIThe Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk II, introduced in 1955, saw several visual changes to the overall look of the DB2/4 Mk I it replaced. Small tail fins and bubble-type taillights were now visible on the rear, while a significant amount of chrome trim was also added. The bonnet horizontal split line was also changed from doorsill height to a horizontal line carried backwards from the top of the front wheel arch. Initially the engine would also be the same as that used in the Mk I, yet a Special Series engine would later be offered that would boast 165hp and a top speed in excess of 120mph. This level of performance was almost on par with the much heavier and less nimble Jaguar XK140, yet the Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk II would retain the same feline sophistication of the earlier DB-series Aston Martin models. In total, only 199 examples of the Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk II would be made before the end of production in 1957. The 1956 Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk II is an excellent example of these early Mk II models, and would make a fantastic addition to any classic car collector or Aston Martin enthusiast’s garage.
