Buying a 1959 Porsche 356B

1959 Porsche 356 BThe first real appearance changes to be seen on the Porsche 356 would come during the third generation release in 1959. The 1959 Porsche 356B would feature bumpers that were raised approximately four inches in both the front and rear, with a different shape and large vertical bumper guards. Headlights were also raised and the fender line was now almost horizontal from the cowl to the headlight rim. A horn grille above the bumper and a brake-cooling grill below the bumper were also standard. This new body style would become known as the T-5. The hood would be flatter, with a massive chrome handle replacing the polished aluminum one previously used on the Pre-A and 356A models. These are just a few of the changes that can help you identify a third-generation Porsche 356B. More than 7,000 units of the 1959 Porsche 356B would roll off the production floor in Germany and were available as a Coupe, Cabriolet or Cabriolet D.
