At the London Motor Show in October 1960, Aston Martin enthusiasts would get another reason to sing the praises of the renowned automaker. At the show, the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato would be introduced. In essence it was an Aston Martin DB4 GT that was lightened and offered improved aesthetics with body design by Zagato in Italy. Zagato created a very light fastback coupe body that was quite unmistakable, with an interesting combination of curves and angles. The 1960 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato was completely different from the DB4 GT models in both style and construction. Typically, the car was supplied without bumpers, although some buyers requested them. Rolling chassis were sent to Italy for body installation, while painting and final assembly was performed at Newport Pagnell. The engine in the DB4 GT Zagato was given a new cylinder head with twin spark plugs for each cylinder and even higher compression. These changes pushed output to 314hp at 6000rpm. The body also weighed about 100 pounds less than the standard DB4 GT, which made it much more competitive on the track as well.
