Buying a 1960 Lancia Flaminia Sport

1960 Lancia Flaminia SportThe 1960 Lancia Flaminia Sport, debuted to the public at the 1958 Turin Motor Show, was the most performance oriented of the coachbuilt Flaminia models. Born from a partnership between Lancia and Zagato, the famous Italian coachbuilder, the Flaminia Sport was not only exceptionally beautiful, but also offered the power, agility and drivability than Lancia had become known for. Boasting a 2.5L V6 that offered 119hp at 5,100rpm, the lightweight Flaminia Sport was faster than the Flaminia GT and Coupe. It also featured the most rapid acceleration of all the Flaminia models, while at the same time improving upon the exceptional road holding and driving comfort of other Flaminia models. The 1960 Lancia Flaminia Sport also holds the distinction of being the first with the new nose design, which would become more or less standard for this model. Sometimes referred to as the Series 2, the new nose was a bit more conservative, but it gave the Sport a greater family resemblance to the Berlina Flaminia. The inset headlights were gone and replaced for a more traditional headlight, while the nose became more upright and blunt. These changes would come even before the Sport received any mechanical updates.

1960 Lancia Flaminia Sport Buyers Guide

The single-carburetor 2.5L Lancia Flaminia Sport model was built from 1959 until 1961, with just 190 examples being released. At the time, it was the most expensive of the Flaminia line; often commanding prices nearly 40 percent higher than the Berlina on the export markets. If youre considering buying a Lancia Flaminia Sport, whether for its exceptional Zagato design or for its rarity, the early 1960 Lancia Flaminia Sport is a popular option. Widely appreciated for its Series 2 nose design and for offering all of the beauty, power, agility and driving comfort Lancia was famous for, the 1960 Lancia Flaminia Sport by Zagato is an excellent addition to any collection. Because the selection of early Sport models is limited and demand is high, todays buyers will find the majority of the Sport options to be in good to excellent condition. It is not uncommon, however, to find a model in need of restoration. No matter what your preference, The Beverly Hills Car Club can help you find the classic Flaminia Sport you desire.
