Available from 1960 to 1963, the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato is often considered the premier British sports car from this era. Born from a partnership between Aston Martin and the world-renowned Milan-based coachbuilder Zagato, the classic 1963 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato represents the final year of production. With fewer than 20 examples ever produced although a run of Sanction II and Sanction III examples were produced much later in 1991 the DB4 GT Zagato is highly praised and sought-after today. The beautiful body by Zagato was not the only difference from the original DB4 GT, however. The Zagato model would boast a highly tuned six-cylinder engine capable of 314hp and a top speed of 153mph. Additionally, non-essential elements such as bumpers were eliminated and many steel components were replaced with aluminum to save weight. As such, private race teams most often used the classic Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato during the era.
