The design was signed by Pietro Frua who did an incredible job, making the Quattroporte I bodywork both curvy and angular, with a spacious and comfortable cabin. The model became an icon and was always an inspiration for the numerous generations of Quattroporte to follow. The 1963 Maserati Quattroporte I was powered by a four-cam, V8 engine, which was developed based on the V8 racing unit and served as Maserati’s main power plant until the late 1970s. With a capacity of 4.1 liters, the engine generated an output of 260 hp, which enabled the car to reach a top speed of approximately 130 mph.
