After concentrating heavily on production and marketing of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and Giulia series cars, in 1962 Alfa Romeo would turn its focus to the launch of the Alfa Romeo 2600. Essentially giving its senior Alfa Romeo 200 line a new six-cylinder engine, the Alfa Romeo would be nearly identical to the 2000 series with a few minor trim changes. The factory-built Berlina Sedan, Sprint Coupe with body by Bertone, and Touring Spider would later be joined by a unique and striking Zagato-designed Coupe with a protruding, rounded nose.
