Released at the Paris Auto Show in 1964, the Ferrari 275 was the successor to the 250 series. The Colombo double-cam, 3.3-Liter V12 engine was used on the Ferrari 275 with a new layout. The 275 GTB was the first road Ferrari to feature an independent rear suspension system with a rear-mounted transaxle. A 275 GTS Convertible model was available alongside the 275 GTB Coupe, with a different body style. Typically, the GTB models boasted 280hp motors while the Convertibles produced 260hp. A 300hp six carburetor tune could be installed on both models, making the 275 one of the most powerful and enjoyable drivers cars of its era. Scaglietti built the standard Ferrari 275 GTB Coupe with 3 or 6 Weber twin-choke carburetors and some examples used an aluminum body rather than the standard steel body. Between 1964 and 1966, Pininfarina made 200 example of Ferrari 275 GTS Roadster, especially for the American market, with different bodywork. The Roadster fell under the Grand Tourer category more that the sporty GTB.
