Launched in 1963, the Maserati Quattroporte I was a four-seat, four-door supercar, wearing a classic body, penned by Pietro Frua. A car with such features was quite rare at the time and still is a segment offering few possibilities. The engine was a reworked version of the racing V8 units that Maserati developed in the late 50s. Fast and powerful, the car would reach a top speed of 130 mph and generate an output of 260 hp for the 4.1-liter engine. Featuring disk brakes all around and an elaborate De Dion suspension system at the rear, the 1964 Maserati Quattroporte I was quite well engineered. Few updates were made throughout the production run and the model was discontinued in 1969, until the next generation in 1979.
