Selling or Buying a 1967 Maserati Mistral Spyder?

1967 Maserati Mistral Spyder Named after the cold north wind of southern France, the Maserati Mistral was first introduced in 1963, as the successor to the iconic Maserati 3500 GT. 125 Spyders were made until the production ended in 1970 and the car was replaced by the V8 Maserati Mexico and Ghibli. The Pietro Frua-designed body featured smooth lines, with curved glass and a low beltline. The chassis and body of the Mistral were made by Maggiora of Turin, using a steel shell and aluminum for the doors, hood and trunk lid. The 1967 Maserati Mistral was powered by a 4-liter, straight-6, DOHC engine, capable of 255 hp. The unit was equipped with Lucas fuel-injection system, which provided additional power over the previous carbureted units.

1967 Maserati Mistral Spyder Buyer’s Guide

There are a few simple tips that can be helpful if you are considering buying a 1967 Maserati Mistral Spyder. As most classic cars of the era, rust can be a serious issue, especially on the frame. Even if the car was previously restored, it is recommended to carry out a complete pre-purchase inspection to be sure there is not an urgent need for a refreshing, which can be quite onerous. You might already know a lot about the model if you are considering acquiring one. Do not forget to inquire about all the paperwork, tools, and parts that come with the classic if you are looking at a particular unit. For example, spyders were equipped with a removable hard top in addition to the soft top, so it is nice to find a complete model. Another important thing to check is that all the maintenance, modifications, or restoration operations made on the car were provided by a certified Maserati specialist. Hiring an expert to help you with the pre-purchase inspection is highly recommended.
