Buying a 1969 Aston Martin V8

1969 Aston Martin V8After being announced on September 27, 1969, the Aston Martin DBS was finally made available with the Tadek-Marek V8 engine. The Aston Martin DBS V8 is a four-seat two-door grand touring car, capable of 160 mph. The output wasn’t officially released but the horsepower was estimated between 315 and 320 hp, compared to 282 hp for the 6-cylinder engine of the previous models. Two types of transmission were made available: a ZF manual 5-speed unit and a Chrysler Toqueflite auto unit. The design of the V8 is very close to the DBS. Visual cues include a squared off front grille and four headlights. The principal differences are the wider front air dam and the 15’’ GKN light alloy wheels, specially designed to replace the wire wheels used on previous models. The V8 was also the first Aston Martin to come with ventilated brake discs. Very advanced machine at the time, a 1969 Aston Martin V8 is a very well appreciated classic car in today’s classic car market.
