Buying a 1972 Aston Martin DBS

1972 Aston Martin DBSLaunched in 1967, the classic Aston Martin DBS was initially designed to replace the DB6, although both cars ran concurrently until 1971. The DBS was a popular grand touring car, and offered a spacious inside and a more contemporary body style than its predecessors. A new Aston Martin V8 engine was destined to go in the Aston Martin DBS but it wasn’t finished in time for production. Engineers decided to use the previously used DB6 engine instead, which has been quite successful in the past. However, the 1972 Aston Martin DBS was heavier than the DB6 (although it only weighed 3,760 lb, which is below the average weight of GTs at the time) and Aston Martin decided to make the Vantage option available to overcome the loss of power. The Vantage engine raised the horsepower up to 325, compared to the average 283 hp of the standard version.
