First introduced at the New York Auto Show in 1970, the De Tomaso Pantera was a beautiful sports car made by newly established car manufacturer De Tomaso in Italy. Produced from 1971, the model was a hit when introduced on the American market thanks to its very affordable price and top performance. Until 1975, the De Tomaso Pantera was sold by Ford in 5,500 examples and a few cars were exported from Italy afterwards. The examples made for the American market were fitted with large black bumpers to pass the crash tests and comply with security regulations. Powered by a sophisticated mid-engine Cleveland Ford engine with a power output of 248 hp, the 1973 De Tomaso Pantera offered fine handling and a thrilling driving experience. Inside, the car was made more comfortable with complete equipment including air conditioning.
