Buying a 1974 Jaguar XKE Convertible

1974 Jaguar XKE ConvertibleThe 1974 Jaguar XKE Convertible and Fixed Head Coupe 2+2 models would be the last of Series III production, effectively ending the thirteen-year production history of the Jaguar XKE. Boasting Jaguar’s most powerful engine, a 5.3L V12 with four Zenith carburetors, the 1974 Jaguar XKE would see approximately 2,862 XKE Convertibles roll off the production floor. Interestingly, another 50 XKE Convertibles were made in 1975, of which all were black and featured a special plaque on the glove box door. The last Jaguar XKE built was chassis number IS 2872, which is owned by Jaguar today. If you’re thinking about buying a 1974 Jaguar XKE Convertible, always be sure to have a third party inspection performed to ensure you know as much about the car as possible. You may also want to ask the seller for any documentation they have regarding ownership history, maintenance and repair, and restoration, as these records can give you great insight into the history of the classic.
