Selling or Buying a 1975 Maserati Merak?

The Maserati Merak was introduced in 1972 and was based on the Maserati Bora. Both cars were very similar, the main difference being the engine. A V8 unit powered the Bora, while the Merak boasted a smaller V6. The DOHC, 3-liter was equipped with Weber carburetors and linked to a five-speed all-synchromesh transaxle gearbox. The space gained by fitting a more compact powertrain was used to carve out a second row of seats. The Maserati Merak was a more convenient 2+2 GT, and also less expensive than the Bora. Designed during Citroen’s ownership, the Maserati Merak featured some of the French manufacturer’s equipment, such as the hydraulically assisted and operated brakes and clutch. The 1975 Merak were the last to be fitted with the brushed metal Citroen SM’s dashboard, distinguishable with its oval instrument gauges and single spoke steering wheel.
