In 1981, Ferrari introduced the third generation of Berlinetta Boxer. The final iteration featured a Bosch fuel-injection system and was optimized for emissions. This last model of Berlinetta Boxer was the most refined and also the most popular. Design-wise, the 1981 Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer 512i was very similar to its predecessor, with minor exterior details such as a switch of wheels to Michelin TRX metric tire system, and a change in badging. The 5-liter, 12-cylinder engine was perfected with the fuel injection and a Digiplex ignition system, offering a much-improved balance of performance and driving abilities. Altogether, the 1981 Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer 512 is a gracefully designed, true classic, which offers an incomparable driving experience. Only 1,007 units of the Ferrari BB 512i were made before the production was discontinued in 1984.
