The major updates made on the LP 400 S over the LP 400 (the first generation) are the addition of glass fiber side skirts and wider wheels with Pirelli P7 tires. A V-shape wing was made available and was ordered by most customers, although it slightly reduced the top speed. Minor changes were also made to the 4-liter V12 engine, improving the performance of the already impressively powerful model. The unit was mounted longitudinally and connected to a five-speed gearbox placed in front of the engine. The Bertone design definitely played a major role in the popularity of the model. The futuristic look featured angular shapes, a very low profile, and iconic scissor doors.
