The Ferrari Testarossa made its debut at the Paris Auto Show in 1984 with some major improvements over its predecessor, the Berlinetta Boxer. It came with a bigger engine, a wider body, a wider wheelbase and a more spacious interior. However, it retained the mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout and the exotic and elegant body design by Pininfarina. The placement of the engine between the axles behind the cabin helped keep the center of gravity in the middle of the car, increasing stability and improving cornering ability. The 1985 Ferrari Testarossa came with single bolt knockoff wheels that used the Michelin TRX system. The car was powered by a 4.9-L DOHC V12 engine that delivered a power of up to 390 hp at 6,300 rpm and enabled a top speed of 180 mph as well as an initial acceleration of 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. Although it wasnt as fast as the Berlinetta Boxer, the Testarossa offered a more comfortable driving experience, and was popular in the luxury sports car market at the time.
