1988 Ferrari 328 GTSSuccessor to the Ferrari 308 GTB and GTS, the 328 was a more powerful and improved model. A few modifications were made to the body style and engine, mainly an increase in engine displacement to 3.2 Liters. The Gran Turismo Spider (GTS) features an elegant targa top, making it a wonderful vehicle for cruising on windy roads on sunny days. With its front and rear independent suspension system, alongside with a smooth 5-speed manual transmission linked to the melodious and well-tuned V8, the 1988 Ferrari 328 GTS is a delight to drive.

1988 Ferrari 328 GTS Buyer’s Guide

7,400 units of Ferrari 328 were made between 1985 and 1989, before the new Ferrari 348 replaced the model in 1989. Considered to be one of the most reliable classic Ferraris, the 1988 Ferrari 328 GTS is also easy to maintain thanks to the fact that most engine maintenance can be done without lowering the engine from the vehicle. Many options were made available for the 1988 Ferrari 328 GTS, such as air conditioning, metallic paint, leather headlining, Pirelli P7 tires or a leather dashboard. From mid-1988, Ferrari made ABS brakes available as an option, which required reworking the suspension geometry in order to provide negative offset. The road wheel design also had to be changed to accommodate this option. A few differences exist between the U.S. and European models, although many cars were modified and upgraded throughout the ownership. Be sure to check for the legitimacy of the upgrades, preferring documented factory changes and upgrades.
