The De Tomaso Pantera was produced from 1970 to 1993 and the model went through many changes and upgrades. The 1989 De Tomaso Pantera was known as the GT5-S model, S standing for steel. The model succeeded to the GT5, which featured polyester extended fenders, replaced by steel parts on the new model. From 1988, a different engine was fitted. The 351 Cleveland was no longer available and the V8-351 Windsor made in Canada was used as a replacement. The differences between both units were minor, featuring the same capacity and a lower weight for the Windsor. The design was refined with long smooth lines and a low profile. The interior of the 1989 De Tomaso Pantera was perfected with leather seats and dash, wood inserts and a gorgeous three-spoke steering wheel. Thanks to great handling and precise transmission, the De Tomaso Pantera GT5-S was a delight!
