The Triumph TR3 was introduced in 1955 as the successor to the popular Triumph TR2 model. Produced by the Standard Motor Company in the UK, the model was built in 13 377 examples, only 1,286 of which were sold on the British market, the rest went to the US. The model was a convertible two-seater sports car with a hardtop and third seat available as options. Design-wise, the Triumph TR3 featured a revised aluminum grille, the central stop light in the rear was replaced by two lights on the sides. Using bigger carburetors, the engine could produce 95 hp at 5,000 rpm and was linked to a manual four-speed gearbox with overdrive. Disc brakes were made available as an option and came standard from September 1956. The Triumph TR3 was replaced by the Triumph TR3A in the summer 1957.
