The car was a luxurious model based on the manufacturer’s rolling chassis and fitted with a body style arranged by customers with their coachbuilders of choice. Wheelbases varied from 132 to 152.5 in, the most popular being the 150 in one. The engine of the Bentley 6.5 Litre was developed to beat Rolls-Royce cars performance. The bore was increased from 80 to 100 mm and displacement was 6.6 litres. The straight-six engine featured four valves per cylinder, overhead camshaft and a single-piece engine block and cylinder head cast iron. Other improvements were the new dry-plate design including a clutch brake for fast gear changes and the power-assisted four-wheel brakes with finned drums.
