The Bentley R Type’s production started in 1952 and went on until 1955, along with the Bentley R Type Continental. 2323 units were built and assembled in the Crewe factory. The body was a standard steel, 4-door saloon design and a few chassis were consigned to independent coachbuilders who created unique versions of the model. The Bentley R Type was similar to its predecessor, the Mark VI, and offered a much larger trunk as well as distinctive radiator grilles. The F-head, 6-cylinder, 4.5-liter engine was retained and an automatic choke was fitted on the carburetor. Inside, the 1952 Bentley R Type was very comfortable and luxurious, featuring standard options such as a sunroof, a radio, fitted tools and leather upholstery.
