Buying a 1955 Jaguar XK140 Fixed Head Coupe

1955 Jaguar XK140 Fixed Head CoupeManufactured between 1954 and 1957 by British sports car company, Jaguar, the XK140 was the second-generation release in the widely popular Jaguar XK lineup. As the successor to the XK120, there were several upgrades that the XK140 offered, including more interior space, improved brakes, rack and pinion steering, better suspension, and telescopic shock absorbers rather than the old lever arm design. The 1955 Jaguar XK140 Fixed Head Coupe, the true closed coupe, would share the Drop Head Coupes walnut-veneered dashboard and door inserts, as well as the occasional rear seat. The prototype for the Fixed Head Coupe had retained the XK120s Fixed Head Coupe roof profile, with the front wings and doors being the same as the Drop Head. In production, however, the roof was lengthened with the windscreen being moved forward, shorter front wings, and longer doors. This also gave more interior space and legroom something that taller drivers were especially thankful for.

1955 Jaguar XK140 Fixed Head Coupe Buyers Guide

Are you thinking about buying a 1955 Jaguar XK140 Fixed Head Coupe and would like some Buyers Tips? If so, youve come to the right place. The Beverly Hills Car Club team has been assisting buyers of classic and vintage automobiles for years and has the industry connections, knowledge and resources to help you find the car youve always dreamed of. On these particular Jaguars, it is important to remember that they are nearly sixty years old. Unless youre looking for a pristine XK140 that has been meticulously restored, these cars will have blemishes and flaws. The goal should always be to purchase the most complete example you can find within your budget. While more than 8,800 Jaguar XK140 were produced by the time production ceased in 1957, parts can still be difficult to find and body panels, due to their exceptional curvature, can be hard to replicate. It is important to take this into consideration when purchasing. The Fixed Head Coupe is also generally the least expensive of the three body styles, due in part to its fixed roof. However, many buyers love the clean lines and eye-catching curvature of the FHC. Whether youre looking for a perfectly restored 1955 Jaguar XK140 FHC or have always wanted to restore one on your own, let the team at The Beverly Hills Car Club assist you.
