Buying a 1959 Aston Martin DB Mark III 2+2

1959 Aston Martin DB Mark III 2+2An ancestor to the landmark DB2, Aston Martin’s first true postwar model, the Aston Martin DB Mark III 2+2 would be the ultimate and most refined variant to come down the line. Debuted in March 1957 and produced through July 1959, the DB Mark III 2+2 would be succeeded by the DB4, but would be the impetus for future Aston Martin designs particularly its new DB3S racecar-inspired front radiator grille. The Frank Feeley-revised instrument panel that echoed the grille’s shape was also new for the DB Mark III 2+2. Under the hood, the 1959 Aston Martin DB Mark III 2+2 would feature a Tadek Marek redesigned Lagonda engine with output that ranged from 162hp and up depending on the modifications that were selected as factory options at the time of purchase. In total, it is estimated that little more than 550 examples of the Aston Martin DB Mark III 2+2 were produced, which were offered in both Fixed-Head Coupe and Drophead Coupe body styles.
