The 1964 Aston Martin DB5 Coupe was in large part quite similar to the DB4 Vantage that came before it, yet it would have an upgraded 4.0L engine, a robust five-speed transmission, and three SU carburetors to achieve approximately 282hp and a top speed of 145mph. Other upgrades included the fitting of an alternator, tinted glass, four exhaust silencers, and electric windows. While all of these additions would add weight to the DB5, it is still the favored model over the DB4 in the eyes of many collectors.
