Buying a 1964 Porsche 356C Cabriolet

1964 Porsche 356 C CabrioletPractically identical to the Porsche 356B T-6 body style, the last and final generation of the Porsche 356 line would be released in 1964 as the 356C. Available as both a 1964 Porsche 356C Cabriolet and Coupe, approximately 14,151 models rolled off the floor in Stuttgart during this production year. Coupe models were ultimately the most popular with more than 12,400 released, while approximately 1,744 Cabriolet models were manufactured during the same time period. Among the changes that can identify the 356C from previous models is the change to the wheels and hubcaps. From 1964 on, the hubcaps were designed in a flatter shape and were made to accommodate the new 911. On the interior, the dash of the 356C now offered a magnetic catch for the glove box and the passenger grab handle to the right of the dash became larger and was now made of plastic. The 1964 Porsche 356C models also used a mechanical tachometer, while those in 1965 would change to an electric unit. When searching for a Porsche 356C Cabriolet, these are some of the characteristics you can look for to ensure you’re viewing an original.
