The Maserati Merak was a V6 2+2 GT produced from 1972 to 1983 and was based on the Maserati Borathe V8 version. The Merak was powered by a compact DOHC, 3-liter V6 mounted longitudinally, which gave room for an additional row of seats in the back, suitable for children or small adults for short trips. The engine was joined through a 5-speed transaxle gearbox with a limited-slip differential and a single-plate dry clutch. The car was equipped with a lubrication system, using a dry sump and oil cooler. Capable of producing 190 hp at 6,000 rpm, the car could reach a top speed of 150 mph. Inside, the 1974 Maserati Merak was fitted with the distinguishable Citroen dashboard, featuring oval gauges and a single-spoke steering wheel.
