A new interior trim was also implemented, along with a re-designed fuel tank that enabled more luggage space. The 5.3-Liter Tadek-Marek V8 was capable of an estimated 315 hp giving the car amazing performance: top speed was about 160 mph and 60 mph was reached in less than 6 seconds, making the V8 the fastest 4-seat GT at the time. When the straight-six Vantage retired in 1973, the V8 became Aston Martin’s mainstream car until 1989, when the Virage took over.
