1981 was the last year of production for the Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer 512, before the third generation of BB 512 came out, featuring a Bosch fuel-injection system. The 1981 Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer 512 was designed by Pininfarina and featured an elegant and refined bicolor body, which became iconic of the BB cars. Other design cues can be identified for the model, such as the front chin spoiler and the NACA ducts on the side of the rear wheels, providing cooling for the brakes and exhaust system. Under the hood, the BB boasted a 5-liter, 12-cylinder unit, as indicated by its name. Although power was slightly down from the first generation of Berlinetta Boxer, the torque was significantly boosted and a dual plate clutch improved the drivability. A dry sump lubrication system was also added on the second generation enabling the car to better scavenge oil.
