Buying an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale

Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint SpecialeThe Bertone-designed Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale first appeared in the Alfa Romeo catalog in 1957. Boasting super-streamlined bodywork, it was highly praised as being visually sensational, bearing a resemblance to some of the most legendary Italian brands earlier competition designs such as the Disco Volante sports racer and the futuristic Berlina Aerodinamica Tecnica show car. Approximately 100 examples of the low-nose version were made in 1957 and 1958, and would be replaced by a second series. The second series of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale would see aluminum hood and trunk lids, and the elimination of the previously used aluminum doors and Plexiglas windows. The nose section was modified and the fender lines were raised slightly to conform to U.S. regulations. Bumpers were fitted front and rear, and the interior changed to become more comfortable. This new version was presented at the Geneva Motor Show of 1960. Mechanically, new Weber DCOE2 carburetors were fitted. This new version would remain greatly unchanged until production stopped in 1966.
