Bentley introduced the 6.5 Litre model in 1926, following the 3 Litre and 4.5 Litre cars. In 1928, a more powerful version of the 6.5 Litre was launched and named the Bentley Speed Six. The engine of the Speed Six delivered 180 hpcompared to 147 hp for the standard modeland featured two SU carburetors, a high-performance camshaft and a single-port block. The model could be ordered with wheelbases ranging from 138 to 152.5 in, the 138 in option being the most popular. Various coachbuilders were used for the design of the Speed Six’s body style. Only 182 units of the Bentley Speed Six were built during its production run.
