Initially, the model was intended for limited edition only but it turned out to be the best selling variant with a total of 667 units made between 1988 and 1990. The Lamborghini Diablo, which was introduced in 1990, was supposed to be the anniversary model but the prototype wasn’t ready in time for presentation in 1988, so Lamborghini decided to create a new Countach for this event. Mechanically similar to the Lamborghini Countach LP 500 QV, the main differences were noticeable on the body. Vents were redesigned and bigger than on the previous models, the design of the side skirts was improved to allow a larger air intake going to the engine, and the rear lights were thinner.
