The Lamborghini Countach was launched in 1974, based on a prototype shown at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show. Initially not intended for production, the design was so popular that the manufacturer created a road model. The Lamborghini Countach LP 500S is the third generation of Countach, the first being the Lamborghini Countach LP 400 and the second, the Lamborghini Countach LP 400 S. The Lamborghini Countach LP 500S was introduced in 1982 and was equipped with a 4.8-liter V12 engine, mounted longitudinally, and linked to a five-speed gearbox. Compared to the first Countach, the LP 500 S featured side skirts made of glass fiber, wider tires, and a V-shaped wing that increased high-speed stability. Only 323 units of this version were made throughout its production run.
