The Lamborghini Urraco was introduced in 1970 and was the first compact supercar. Instead of Lamborghini’s usual V12, the Urraco was powered by a mid-mounted 90-degree V8 with only one camshaft per cylinder bank, and also featured a new transaxle and bodywork. With its 2+2 layout and Bertone design, the Lamborghini Urraco was a usable and well-built model. The body shell was welded on the fabricated pressed-steel chassis and the engine and transmission were mounted transversally. The model also featured an all-independent suspension system with MacPherson-strut instead of double wishbone, as well as all disk brakes.
Looking to purchase a classic Lamborghini?
The Lamborghini Urraco was produced in low numbers, due to some mounting problems in the Sant’agata factory, which makes the model quite rare nowadays. Competing with the Dino 246 GT and the Porsche 911, the Urraco featured a more powerful engine and a roomier interior. Named after a breed of fighting bull, the Lamborghini Urraco is a true-enthusiast automobile that combines incredible driving experience and iconic design.
