This model was a departure from the companys standard production process, as the 1949 Rolls Royce Silver Dawn featured a factory built chassis. The model was originally designed for a run on the export market, which meant that it sold in two distinctive designs: 1) right-hand drive, which used a floor change; and 2) left-hand drive, which used a column gear change. Like many luxury vehicle manufacturers, Rolls Royce units are often the product of allied disciplines, as a several coachbuilders took their turns in providing the 1949 Rolls Royce Silver Dawn with its beautiful coachwork.
