It also featured the same front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout and came standard with a GM 4-speed Hydramatic transmission. Functionally speaking, the Phantom was largely indistinguishable from the Silver Cloud II. Where it most differed was in its intended market, for the Phantom V was the motor carriage of royalty. In addition to having been owned by Queen Elizabeth II herself, the Phantom V was also utilized by royal and governing figures from Norway and Iran to the Philippines and Yugoslavia.
