Buying or Selling a 1961 Intermeccanica Apollo GT

1961 Intermeccanica Apollo GTBorn of an interesting backstory and a trans-Atlantic partnership, the 1961 Intermeccanica Apollo GT was destined to be both unique and rare in the pantheon of classic sports cars. A complex production process and high pricing meant few would ultimately be produced and those that were sold were going to top-dollar buyers who could afford the expense. Thus a large market was either never intended or never created. But the 1961 Intermeccanica Apollo GT did have its loyal adherents and the beautiful cars influence on automotive history would prove lasting and indelible. Certainly from a cosmetic standpoint, the Apollo GT was distinctive and attractive in equal measures; but also packed a mean punch under the hood.

Aside from its remarkable appearance and multi-national (Italy and America) production, the 1961 Intermeccanica Apollo GT was also a horsepower juggernaut. With its 3.5-liter V-8 engine, the Intermeccanica Apollo barreled down the roadways with the power of 145 horses caged within its chassis. That was the case with the engines 215 cubic inch version. Certain Apollo variants featured the 300 cubic inch, 4.9-liter, V-8 motor that put the horsepower well over 200. For its sleek design, excellent handling, and decidedly European appeal, the Apollo GT fell firmly under the sports car category. But the rides beefy engine imbued it with a muscular property that set it apart from many others in its class. Owning a piece of this rare and noteworthy sports car history is within reach, so long as you work with the right dealer.
