The Rolls Royce Silver Spirit was a watershed for the brand. Poised at the beginning of the brands stint under Vickers and the 1980s it featured several breaks from the norm. The most striking difference at first glance was its four rectangular headlights and additional warning lights which peeked around the side distinguishing it from its forebearthe Silver Shadow. It did feature though, the same 6.75 liter V8 engine which had been well-tested by its use in the Silver Shadow line; in the Silver Spirit however, it featured a highly efficient Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system. Many innovations were made with the Silver Spirit such as a new air conditioning system with multiple climate levels and an improved hydraulic system that aided the car to remain level at all time and bear heavy loads with ease.

Other additions should be noted like the luxurious leather upholstery, which was even more delightful than previous models, and an electronic instrument panel displaying temperature, time, speed, road icing, and assorted information. The aesthetic was angular and imposing with a dramatic slope in the windscreen and rear window synergizing with extended bumpers to create a car that seems to have a bit more bite than its contemporaries.
