1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SL With 2 Tops

Introducing this 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SL with two tops and its factory color Beige Grey (726) complemented with a Dark Brown interior, a classic and well-balanced color combination that suits the elegant lines of the W113 chassis. Commonly known as the Pagoda due to its uniquely shaped removable hardtop, the 280SL represented the final and most developed version of the W113 series, offering improved power, refinement, and long-distance touring capability over its predecessors.

Highlights:
- Factory Color: Beige Grey (726)
- Interior Color: Dark Brown
- Rare Rear "Kinder" Third Seat
- 2.8-Liter M130 engine
- Automatic Transmission (Floor Shift)
- Bosch Fuel Injection System
- Four-Wheel Disc Brakes
- Power Steering
- Dark Brown Convertible Soft Top
- Removable Hardtop
- Chrome Accents
- VDO Instrumentation
- 14-Inch Steel Wheels
- Bilstein Jack

Powered by a 2.8-liter inline-six engine paired with an automatic floor-shift transmission, this 280SL is equipped with Bosch mechanical fuel injection, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, and twin exhaust finishers. Additional exterior features include a dark brown convertible soft top, removable hardtop, chrome bumpers with overriders, side moldings, chrome trim, and correct 14-inch steel wheels with chrome hubcaps and color-matched centers wrapped in thin whitewall tires. The car also comes with a Bilstein jack stored in the trunk.

Inside, the dark brown interior is complemented by bucket seats, a highly desirable rear "Kinder-Seat," and an elegant ivory-colored steering wheel with a chrome horn ring. Additional features include VDO instrumentation, manual crank windows, door pockets, an analog clock, center console, FM radio, and a fender-mounted antenna.

One of the more interesting aspects of the W113 is that its famous Pagoda hardtop shape was engineered not only for appearance, but also to improve cabin rigidity and visibility. Developed with input from Mercedes-Benz safety engineer B'la Bar'nyi, the design reflected the company's growing focus on occupant safety during the 1960s while still maintaining the roadster's clean and timeless profile.
