Powered by a fuel-injected V8 paired to an automatic transmission, the 560SL is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, twin exhaust outlets, VDO instrumentation, Behr radiator, chrome bumpers with rubber guards, Bosch fog lamps, 15-inch Gullideckel-style wheels, and a full-size spare with jack stored in the trunk. Comfort and convenience features include bucket seats, rear jump seat, air conditioning, power windows, cruise control, dual-side rearview mirrors, a 4-spoke steering wheel, center console, analog clock, glove box, and a fender-mounted antenna.
The R107-generation SL was engineered with a reinforced safety structure and was one of the first Mercedes roadsters to integrate advanced crumple-zone design into an open-top platform, contributing to its long production run.
