This motor was interesting because this particular engine places the valves over the cylinder head. This engine was an improvement over the previous used flathead engines.

The car was very innovative and utilized an advanced hydraulic braking system that utilized the most advanced technology of the time. This impressed drivers because the braking time was cut in half and was smoother than it ever had been in previously manufactured BMW vehicles. The gearbox used to shift into higher and lower gears was the same one used in the previous BMW 326 model. Also, the clutch and front suspension systems were also transferred from the BMW 326 to the BMW 327 model. The live axel used on this vehicle was also from the BMW 326 and the shaft on this axel also transmits power to the wheels, which is rather innovative for the time of its production.
