This is a very special 1960 Mercedes Benz Ponton Coupe; it has been in storage for many years and with the last owner since the early 80’s. These 220SE Coupes, are very hard to come by. Especially when they are not all rusted out, these fuel injected Coupes with the rare Sunroof bring a lot of money when they are fully restored. Here is a very easy cosmetic restoration. This beauty is very very solid and has been in California probably all its life.

“Sorry to burst some bubbles but the 220S and 220SE coupe did have a Webasto sliding metal sunroof. There were about 55 of them made and according to all the information I can find, mine and about 8 or 9 others are all there are in the North American continent. This is a metal sunroof that manually slides and was offered on the 1959 and 1960 220SE and possibly a few on the 220S. Refer to the July/August 1990 STAR for an excellent article on these rare coupes of which only 830 were built with and without the sunroof option. Charles Boyd”
The body on this car is very solid. It does not have any rust on the body anywhere. There is no bondo / filler anywhere on the car.
Mechanically, the engine runs and sounds very strong, you are going to have to check the brakes and probably do a tune up before driving the car down the road. But the car does start and sounds good!
This '60 220SE is a very rare find. This Fuel injected Sunroof Coupe will only keep going up in Value. Obviously this car has been in dry storage for a very long time.
