Introducing this recently discovered 1962 Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2 Coupe Pininfarina with a matching numbers engine. Finished in its factory color scheme of Grigio complemented with Rosso Connolly leather interior. The upholstery exudes a rich aroma, heritage and prestige, inviting you to settle into the plush seats and embark on a journey through automotive history. This Italian classic was repainted to match the factory color, showcasing its timeless allure and attention to detail.
This extremely original vehicle is a garage find, boasting a rich history and a unique set of features that make it a standout among classic cars. This particular Ferrari 250GTE is the 86th of only 350 Series II cars ever built, and the 387th of a total of 954 units produced across all three series. As a European version, this beauty comes with instruments in kilometers, adding to its allure and authenticity.
The meticulous documentation of this Ferrari's journey adds to its mystique. The chassis frame was sent to Carrozzeria Pininfarina in Torino on December 30, 1961, marking the beginning of its transformation into a masterpiece. The rear axle assembly was completed by mechanic Sghedoni under the supervision of foreman Amos Franchini on February 28, 1962, followed by the gearbox and engine assembly in early March of the same year.
On March 3, 1962, the engine underwent dyno testing, ensuring peak performance. The factory completion date was March 6, 1962, with the issuance of Factory Invoice #411/62 on March 12, 1962. This Italian classic was then delivered new to the official dealer Baron Emmanuel Toulo De Graffenried's Italauto SA in Lausanne, Switzerland, on March 13, 1962, before being sold to its first owner, Mr. Rossinelli.
This GT/E 2+2 journey continued through the years, with stops in Switzerland, England, and eventually the United States. After changing hands a few times over the years, this Ferrari was sold to a lawyer in West Virginia and then to John Doonan in Rockville, MD. In December 1976, this vehicle found its way to Pasadena, California, and in the hands of Eugene Young. In 2012, the vehicle was inherited by Tom LaFortune, an artist residing in San Gabriel, California, who acquired it from the estate. Complete with a Marcel Massini report, this gem is sure to captivate collectors and enthusiasts alike.
Equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission, numbers-matching V-12 engine, triple Weber carburetors, four-wheel disc brakes, Veglia instrumentation, quad exhaust tips, wood-rimmed steering wheel, chrome trim/bumpers, Amplilux headlights, Marchal front fog lights, Michelin tires, Borrani knock-off wire wheels, and a full-size spare tire fitted in the trunk.
