Designed by Wilhelm Hofmeister and built by Karmann, the 2000CS combined BMW's sporting character with grand touring comfort, helping bridge the gap between the Neue Klasse sedans and the later E9 coupes.

Built by Karmann, this example is equipped with a manual transmission paired with a 2.0-liter (1,990cc) M10 inline-four engine and dual Weber carburetors. Additional equipment includes front disc and rear drum brakes, VDO instrumentation, chrome trim and bumpers with rubber guards, passenger-side fender-mounted mirror, a single exhaust outlet, Lionhart tires, and 14-inch wheels with BMW center caps.
The front valance is fitted with dual round auxiliary fog lamps positioned beneath the integrated European-spec headlamp assemblies. The cabin features front bucket seats, a 2-spoke steering wheel, center console, and wood-grain trim. The straightforward interior layout reflects BMW's driver-oriented approach of the period.
A noteworthy detail of the 2000CS is its pillarless hardtop design, which allows all side windows to be lowered for a fully open side profile, a feature shared with BMW's later and highly regarded E9 coupes. The car is currently not running and will require mechanical recommissioning and cosmetic attention.
