Equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission paired to a carbureted 1600cc dual-port air-cooled flat-four engine, front disc brakes, dual exhaust outlets, chrome bumpers with overriders, VDO gauges, a classic 2-spoke steering wheel, and a floor-mounted shifter. Riding on 15-inch steel wheels with Volkswagen chrome hubcaps, it also includes a full-size spare tire. The interior features front bucket seats, dual side mirrors, map pockets, an AM/FM radio with a fender-mounted antenna, and a glove box for added convenience and period-correct charm.
The Karmann Ghia was hand-assembled by coachbuilder Karmann in Germany and styled by Italy's Carrozzeria Ghia, making it one of the few Volkswagens with true coachbuilt roots. Despite its elegant looks, it shares much of its mechanical DNA with the Beetle, which means parts availability remains excellent today. Convertibles are especially desirable, as they were produced in far lower numbers than coupes and are increasingly hard to find in restorable condition.
This is a non-running project car with a lot of potential, ideal for full restoration, and represents a great chance to bring a timeless, design-driven Volkswagen back to life at an accessible price point.
