Built from 1928 to 1930, the Bentley Speed Six was the sporty version of the Bentley 6.5 Litre introduced in 1926. A straight-six, 6.6-liter engine with an output of 180 hp powered the Speed Six. The unit was equipped with two SU carburetors, a single-port block and high-performance camshaft. Customers could choose the wheelbase length from 138 to 152.5 inches, the 138 in variant being the most popular. The rolling chassis was sent to various coachbuilders and made into a tailored design. Many improvements were made over the previous models, making the Bentley Speed Six a very fast and successful model on the road and in racing.
