Built from 1927 to 1931, the Bentley 4.5 Litre was the evolution of the manufacturer’s first car, named Bentley 3.5 Litre. As its name indicates, the new model featured a large engine with a displacement of 4.4 litres and four inline cylinders. The unit was bolted to a four speed manual gearbox with no synchro, requiring some skills. On the standard model, the engine delivered 110 hpand up to 130 hp on the racing model, enabling the car to reach a record top speed of 138 mph. With its powerful engine and well-built chassis, the Bentley 4.5 Litre was very efficient and the model won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1928.
