Introduced in 1952, the Bentley R Type was only produced until 1955. The model was the second model made by Bentley after the war and was heavily based on its predecessor, the Bentley Mk VI. As with the Mk VI, the R Type came with a standard steel body while a few models were consigned with independent coachbuilders to make more exclusive examples. The main differences with the Mark VI were the carburation and the radiator grilles. The trunk was almost twice as large to make the model more convenient. Inside, the car was equipped with a radio, leather upholstery, a sunroof and fitted tools. The F-head, 6-cylinder engine had a capacity of 4.5 liters and gave the car satisfying power. Coupled to a four-speed automatic gearbox, the 1955 Bentley R Type could reach top speeds above 100 mph and reach 60 mph from still in about 13 seconds.
